Dear Helena,

I am a secondary education major at a small school in Tennessee. I want to teach history, especially the histories that are often overlooked in the United States lessons. Always eager to learn more through novels, I picked up Sharon Cameron’s book, The Light in Hidden Places. It was incredible! I was in awe of the courage you and your sister showed during one of the darkest moments in history. I was so excited when I saw there was an opportunity to contact you!
I have a question on behalf of my students and future students: Do you have any advice for them when they find themselves in a difficult situation? Is there anything that helped you continue on that can be passed to them?

Thank you for taking time to read this. And thank you for all you have done! Thank you for your story!

God Bless,
Chloe Camp
